Marvin Bear and The Eating Place was written on a rainy day, in my car, next to a golf course somewhere in South San Jose, in 1980, and was illustrated over the next two years.

"And just what do you mean, a picnic and everyone is invited?
Everyone IS here and I don't see a picnic", said Moose,
looking down his long nose at Raccoon.

"Neither do we", said Owl and all the the large crowd
of Wonderful Forgotten Forest creatures.

Raccoon only shrugged his shoulders and tried to smile.
He knew he was in Big Trouble
